Rum Runners Thwart Patriots, 7-5
|
Santo Domingo designated hitter Garrett Paul made his presence felt in the 7-5 Rum Runners triumph over the Pawtucket Patriots. Paul went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Dave Scott, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Jakob Dawson nailed down the save.
The Rum Runners got a big at-bat from catcher Mason Camillo. For the game, Camillo was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Santo Domingo a 2-0 lead.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Camillo, "one at-bat at a time."
Pawtucket, with the loss, is 10-14.
