Gibbs Steers Baltimore Past Cyclones, 3-2
|
The Baltimore Bulldogs did just enough to sneak past the New York Cyclones, 3-2, at Hurricane Rice Arena. Baltimore pitcher Stephen Gibbs, in particular, had a standout performance. Levi Backman earned the save for Baltimore, his 7th of the year. The win brings the Bulldogs to 13-8, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Though he didn't earn the victory, Gibbs kept his team in the game until the bullpen took over and the Baltimore offense came through. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Gibbs.
