Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Batavia Muckdogs and the Los Angeles Sharks. Batavia won it, 2-1. Batavia starter E.J. Scott was in command. Scott got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Gerald Tura earned the save, his 5th, for the Muckdogs.
Batavia used the hitting of Joey Trinidad to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Muckdogs on top, 2-0. For the game, Trinidad had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We busted our tails," said Los Angeles manager K.J. Young. "But we came up short."
The Muckdogs, now 14-6, have been on a roll in the early going.
