A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Hartford Whalers and Dallas Drillers.

Dallas designated hitter Damon Casebier had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Casebier went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as Hartford beat the Drillers, 6-3. The winner in relief was Owen Carr. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Jamal Brown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.

Elias Howard, the Hartford center fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-3, Whalers. For the game, Howard was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Howard.

The Drillers drop to 6-11.
