6-3 Win by Cyclones Continues Hot Start
|
The New York Cyclones topped the California Kodiaks by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Jared Rosewall. Rosewall hit 2 home runs for the Cyclones. Oscar Dudzik, the winner, goes to 4-0. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Dawson Hupp earned the save for New York, his 4th of the year.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from first baseman Fred Etheridge. For the game, Etheridge went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave New York a 4-3 lead.
"It all comes down to execution," said New York manager Dave Taylor. "Baseball 101."
For California, now 3-13, the season is off to a dismal start.
