The home crowd had a good time watching the Pittsburgh Millers and Hartford Whalers get after it.

Getting an impressive start from Chase Mellas, Hartford beat Pittsburgh by the score of 6-2. Mellas, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.

The Whalers got a big at-bat from catcher Kyler Schuff. For the game, Schuff was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Hartford a 4-1 lead.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Pittsburgh manager Jimmy Collins.

The Millers, now 4-10, continue their slow start.
