Pittsburgh Tags Washington with 4-1 Defeat
|
Pittsburgh Millers pitcher Justice Michael was all business, helping his team muzzle the Washington Bats, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Michael, now 11-7. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Garry Fanalua recorded the save for Pittsburgh, his 15th of the season.
The result might have been different for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Jeremy Knowlton, the 32-year old catcher . Knowlton stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-1. For the game, he had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Michael said in reaction to the win.
The Domestic League Ale Division-leading Millers have a record of 75-60.
