Cyclones Stop Clowns, 8-2
|
New York and Indianapolis got after it at Kennedy Field at Metropolitan Stadium.
The New York Cyclones picked up a win at Kennedy Field at Metropolitan Stadium, knocking off the Indianapolis Clowns, 8-2. On the mound for New York was right-hander Oscar Dudzik, who played a pivotal role in the win. Dudzik, the winner, moves to 14-6. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 1 walk.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from first baseman Pat Duke. For the game, Duke was 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 33rd double of the season gave New York a 3-2 lead.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Dudzik said in reaction to the win.
The second-place Clowns have lost 4 consecutive games.
