Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New Orleans Voodoo and Dallas Drillers.
The New Orleans Voodoo topped the Dallas Drillers by a score of 5-3. Leading the way was right fielder Andy Bernard. Bernard was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Voodoo. Cedric Erickson, the winner, goes to 10-10. He allowed 3 runs on 10 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Blake Galik nailed down his 22nd save.
With New Orleans leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Bernard hit a 2-run home run off Dallas hurler Xavier Cook. It was the 33rd home run of the season for Bernard and put his team ahead, 4-1.
In postgame comments to the New Orleans Daily News, Bernard said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the win, New Orleans upped its record to 66-63.
