Clowns Cut Down Rum Runners, 5-3
|
The Indianapolis Clowns picked up a win at The Big Top, knocking off the Santo Domingo Rum Runners, 5-3. Starting pitcher Charles Hofer played a key role in the triumph. In 6 innings, Hofer surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The Clowns saw their win-loss record go to 56-67. At the same time, the Rum Runners fell to 48-74.
Sean Hayward dealt the Rum Runners a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Indianapolis leading 2-1, Hayward, who is rated as the 38th best prospect by BNN, hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Hayward told the Indianapolis Times.
