Syracuse pitcher Kurtis McClellan did his part in helping his team beat the Pittsburgh Millers, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. McClellan went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-4. Trevon Pearson notched his 16th save in 20 chances.
Victor Day, the 33-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Day contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Syracuse up, 4-2.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Day.
Syracuse is now 57-64.
