Wildcats Beat New Orleans, 5-4
The Wilmington Wildcats and New Orleans Voodoo obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The New Orleans Voodoo got a sterling performance from pitcher Joel Thompson, but the Wilmington Wildcats still prevailed, 5-4. Thompson threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Wilmington reliever Ron Thomas picked up the win, upping his record to 10-6. Kaleb Mannino took the loss.

Had Julian Crews not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Crews hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Wildcats.

"I felt good up there," said Crews. "I saw the ball well."

With the win, Wilmington upped its record to 72-51.
