The Washington Bats took Baltimore pitcher Stephen Gibbs's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Capitol. The final score had Washington getting past the Bulldogs, 3-1. Gibbs went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 8. The win lifted the Washington record to 66-55.

Louis Hockney contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It was one at-bat that helped Washington get the win.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Washington manager Pat Fiume. "It's usually not just one thing."
