New Orleans Wins, 7-4, Behind 2 Danton Home Runs
|
New Orleans third baseman Davell Danton made his presence felt in the 7-4 Voodoo triumph over the Pawtucket Patriots. Danton was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Spencer Farwell earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 6-6. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Pawtucket.
Danton contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for New Orleans in the bottom of the seventh. With his team trailing 4-1, Danton took a cutter from Bryce Leistner and stroked the home run to left-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Voodoo to leap in front, 5-4.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Jimmy Williamson, the Pawtucket manager.
