Starting pitcher Holt Wegener gave the Phoenix Roadrunners a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Washington Bats, 2-1, at The Birdnest. Phoenix, at 65-55, sits in third place in the Import League Bock Division.

Phoenix took a 2-1 lead on Tristen Severson's 31st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Severson hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Washington pitcher Dalton Chadwick visibly frustrated.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Wegener told the Phoenix Herald. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
