Rum Runners Win Thriller, 3-1
|
The Pawtucket Patriots got a sterling performance from pitcher Marc Dillard, but the Santo Domingo Rum Runners still prevailed, 3-1. Dillard threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Santo Domingo reliever Brad Hudson got the win, raising his record to 5-5. Tom Beard was tagged with the loss. Santo Domingo is 58-61 and Pawtucket, with the loss, 56-64.
Rykeem Potts was the walk-off hero for Santo Domingo. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rum Runners third baseman hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.
"That's how to finish a ballgame," said Potts.
