The Hartford Whalers topped the Carolina Tobs by a score of 6-4. Leading the way was catcher Kyler Schuff. Schuff hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Whalers. Cody Ayres earned the save for Hartford, his 1st. The 5th-place Whalers improved to 53-60.

With Hartford leading 4-1 in the top of the fourth, Schuff hit a fastball from Charlie Cruz for a 2-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Whalers ahead, 6-1.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Carolina manager Dave Kell. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
