Canadians Lose, 6-5, at The Birdnest
|
Phoenix beat Toronto at The Birdnest, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to shortstop Israel Elpers. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Powell Achber picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Sean Braig, who is tied for 7th in the DL in holds with 6, was tagged with the loss. The win puts the Roadrunners at 60-51, while the Canadians drop to 51-60.
Phoenix went in front, 6-5, on Kole Herber's 4th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Herber hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Toronto pitcher Sean Braig visibly perturbed.
"I felt good up there," said Elpers. "I saw the ball well."
