3-1 Loss to Bats Extends Syracuse Losing Streak
|
Starting pitcher Reid Rothstein was a major factor in the 3-1 Washington Bats triumph over the Syracuse Snappers. In 7 innings, Rothstein surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Darius Huschke closed the door for Washington, picking up his 5th save of the year.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Brock Bumbarger didn't flinch. With a runner on 1st and Syracuse trailing 2-1, Bumbarger retired J.D. Diltz to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Bumbarger, with a wink.
Washington, now 9-3, is playing great baseball to start the year.
