Dinos Score Late to Upend Voodoo, 3-1
|
The Los Angeles Dinos picked up a win at Jurassic Park, knocking off the New Orleans Voodoo, 3-1. On the mound for Los Angeles was right-hander Derian Romary, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win was credited to Tod Steffen in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Charles Young took the loss. The win brings the Dinos to 4-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Mason Dvorak came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New Orleans pitcher Charles Young, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 2-1.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Romary. "It eases the tension."
