Pittsburgh Hands New Orleans 3-2 Defeat
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Pittsburgh Millers and the New Orleans Voodoo, pitcher Max Townsend was the difference between victory and defeat. The Pittsburgh right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Millers win. The win belongs to Shavar Hannan in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Kaleb Mannino took the loss for New Orleans. With the win, the Millers have a record of 59-39.
Pittsburgh needed the clutch hitting of LaMark Canete to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Millers on top, 3-2. For the game, Canete had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Townsend.
