Late Rally by Freedom Secures 5-3 Win
|
With right fielder Alec Boersen leading the charge, the Philadelphia Freedom defeated the Pawtucket Patriots, 5-3, at Pawtucket Park. Boersen, who finished 4th in the IL in extra base hits with 76 in 2067, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Tim Killips. His record now stands at 1-1. The left-hander went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits for the Freedom. Nic McClelland recorded the save for Philadelphia, his 2nd of the season.
Philadelphia needed the clutch hitting of Chase Ingold to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Freedom on top, 5-3. For the game, Ingold had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I really like what we did out there today," Ingold said after the game.
The Patriots drop to 5-5 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2069 season.
