Starting pitcher Saxby Lucas pitched well enough to help the Wilmington Sorcery beat the New Orleans Voodoo, 5-3. Sawyer Viergutz, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Ken Figley recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 3.
Kermit Meaux came through with a big-time hit for Wilmington. The center fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Winning never gets dull," said Meaux.
New Orleans's current losing streak is now 5 games.
