The Indianapolis Clowns got a strong performance from pitcher T.J. Britton, who stymied the California offense en route to a win, 4-2, at The Big Top. The winning pitcher was Britton, now 8-4. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Denver Benson locked down his 15th save.
Nick Edwards drove in one run for Indianapolis. The slick-fielding third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Chase Lowe. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Edwards.
The win boosted Indianapolis to 47-42.
