Best CALL Reliever Named
Saturday, October 17th , 2009
Anton Rodriguez was a calming influence out of the Modesto Nuts bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 25-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the California League Reliever of the Year Award for 2009.

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native won the award with 4 saves in 44 relief appearances, 129 strikeouts in 119.1 innings and a record of 7-5 to go with his 2.34 ERA.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 10. Joram Iboa of the Stockton Ports finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Brad Thomas of the Inland Empire 66ers finished third.
