Pacific Coast League Top Player Is Johnson
Friday, October 16th , 2009
The manager of the Oklahoma Redhawks said he thinks Chris Johnson is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 25, but it will be hard to top the third baseman's 2009 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .352 batting average and a .396 on-base percentage this year. In 139 games he piled up 189 hits, 33 doubles, 4 triples, 16 home runs, 88 RBIs and 81 runs scored.

He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Jay Bruce of the Rochester Red Wings finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Maxwell Leon of the Portland Beavers finished third.

PCL Best Manager Picked, Rochester's Aguilera Winner
Wednesday, October 14th , 2009
Rick Aguilera stepped before the microphone today and accepted his Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year award, thanking the whole Rochester Red Wings organization for making the 2009 season such a success.

Aguilera struggled to find the right words. "My father was a drill instructor in the military. He taught me that you have to work hard, set goals and accept responsibility for your actions. That's what the entire Rochester organization did this year. My dedicated owner, coaching staff, hard-working and talented players and loyal front office all made this award possible. I thank them for it."

And what a year it was. Aguilera sparked the Red Wings to a 88-56 record and a first in the Pacific Coast League West standings.
