Tigers Show No Mercy in 13-0 Thrashing of Orioles
Wednesday, April 25th , 2012
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Baltimore Orioles as starter Matt Shoemaker shut them out, 13-0, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Detroit pitcher struck out 8 and walked 3 while allowing 2 hits.
"Shoemaker was good but he wasn't flawless," Baltimore manager Eddie Murray said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Detroit, but this is on us."
This year, Shoemaker has a 4-1 mark in 6 starts with a 2.43 ERA. He has given up 32 hits in 40.2 innings, struck out 46 and issued 6 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .206 batting average against him.
