Garciaparra Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Friday, September 11th , 2009 The New York Yankees stopped the Texas Rangers today 4-0 and Nomar Garciaparra collected a base hit yet again. The New York third baseman finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20. "I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Garciaparra told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Nomar Garciaparra grounded out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th and hit an RBI double in the 7th. Garciaparra is currently hitting at a .284 pace with 19 home runs, 83 RBIs and has scored 64 times. |
