Led by Randy Ruiz, the Kansas City Royals downed the Minnesota Twins, 8-6. Ruiz went 2 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Royals. Sergio Romo was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. Minnesota now is 3-4.

Ruiz contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Ruiz took a changeup from Felix Hernandez and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Royals to leap in front, 5-3.

"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Ruiz told the Kansas City Herald.
