Spiders Earn 7-0 Home Win
|
The Cleveland Spiders picked up a win at Jacobs Field, dropping the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-0. Kyle Allen, who is tied for 9th in the AL with a 2.90 ERA, was the difference-maker. Allen picked up the win for Cleveland, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-5. The Blue Jays, now 22-42, have lost 5 straight.
Victor Martinez had a big 2-run home run for the Spiders in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cleveland leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Edgar G Gonzalez and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Spiders on top, 4-0.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Allen.
