Cardinals Top Reds, 4-3
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Cincinnati Reds, 4-3, in NL action at Great American Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to St. Louis pitcher and Gainesville, Florida, native Andrew Miller. Miller, the winner, moves to 5-4. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Earning his 12th save for St. Louis was Fernando Rodney.
Andre Ethier, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Ethier contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put St. Louis up, 4-1.
Cardinals manager Chris James raved about Miller after the game. "I thought Andrew was 'lights out.'"
With the win over Cincinnati, the Cardinals improved to 33-26.
