Spiders Victors, 8-2, at Boston
|
Cleveland beat Boston in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Behind an impressive start by Alfonso Martinez, Cleveland beat Boston, 8-2. The winning pitcher was Martinez, now 4-5. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 9.
Cleveland used a well-timed hit by Robert Andino to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Spiders ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"It feels good to get this one," Andino told the Cleveland Today.
The third-place Spiders hiked their record to 26-29.
