Astros Beat Arizona, 3-2
|
The Houston Astros faced a tough opponent in Arizona pitcher Luis Maciel, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Chase Field by a final score of 3-2. Maciel went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Emerson Bello closed the game out for Houston, earning his 3rd save. With the win, Houston boosts its record to 3-2.
Houston used the timely hitting of Milton Bradley to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Astros on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We busted our tails," said Arizona manager Edgar Martinez. "But we came up short."
