Reds Rally For Late Win Over Cardinals
|
Cincinnati starter Neal Frendling had a strong outing against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Frendling, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. St. Louis's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Had Kyle Phillips not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Phillips hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Reds.
"I felt good up there," said Phillips. "I saw the ball well."
