Athletics Win, 3-1, at Texas
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Oakland Athletics and the Texas Rangers, Roy Halladay was the X factor. The Oakland right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Halladay yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-1. With the loss, Texas falls to 1-5.
Oakland won the game in part because of Chris Snelling. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 2-1. For the game, Snelling had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Halladay.
