Yankees Edge Mets, 4-3
|
New York picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, bumping off the New York Mets, 4-3. Pitcher Cory Riordan was a major reason the Yankees emerged victorious. The winning pitcher was Riordan, now 3-2. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The Mets, now 25-26, have lost 4 in a row.
New York took a 4-3 lead on Aramis Ramirez's 13th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Ramirez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Scott Vander Weg visibly frustrated.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said New York manager Ellis Burks.
