Cardinals Fall Short, 3-2, at Atlanta
|
The Braves grabbed a win, 3-2, at Turner Field, overcoming a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher R A Dickey. Dickey went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ty Hartshorn, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Jared Burton recorded the save for Atlanta, his 15th of the season.
Eric Byrnes drew 1 walk for Atlanta. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off R A Dickey. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Byrnes said.
With the win, the Braves have a record of 28-22.
