Philadelphia Decked by McCutchen, Mets
|
A 6-RBI performance from center fielder Andrew McCutchen, who is tied for 6th in the NL in bases on balls with 26, led the New York Mets to a win over the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-3. The winning pitcher was Eric Milton. His record is now 3-4. The left-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Mets. New York has now won 8 straight.
With New York leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, McCutchen hit a changeup from Stuart Pomeranz for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 6-2.
"We maximized our offense today," said New York skipper Eddie Alsen. "That makes everyone's life easier."
