St. Louis Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals.
San Diego Padres starter Marcus Walden pitched a strong game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Petco Park, leading the Padres to victory, 1-0. Walden, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.
The Padres got a big at-bat from third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. For the game, Zimmerman went 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave San Diego a 1-0 lead.
"Nice win for us," said Walden. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The Padres move to 17-26 with the win, while the Cardinals drop to 18-26.
