|
Arizona starter Matt DeWitt had a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs at Chase Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. DeWitt, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. The 4th-place Firestorm have won 5 consecutive games.
The Firestorm got an important contribution from second baseman Ruben Reyes, who in the bottom of the second punched a 1-2 fastball into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Firestorm ahead, 3-0.
"I believe in our guys," said Arizona skipper Bill Wearne. "I like the energy they're playing with."
