Gonzalez Lifts Rangers to 7-3 Win
|
The Texas Rangers defeated the Boston Red Sox, 7-3, at Rangers Ballpark In Arlington. Texas designated hitter Adrian Gonzalez had a superb performance. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win belongs to Nick Walters in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Clay Buchholz took the loss for Boston. Johan Santana closed the door for Texas, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Texas took a 6-3 lead on Justin Turner's 12th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Turner hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Boston pitcher David Riske visibly frustrated.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Gonzalez. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
The win has Texas at 18-14.
