Cubs Beaten By Marlins, 6-3
|
Marlins right fielder Justin Upton put his stamp on his team's 6-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. Upton went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Florida in the contest. The winning pitcher was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Wade Miley. He tossed 101 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Todd Pennington recorded the save for Florida, his 1st of the season.
Florida took a 4-2 lead on Edgar Renteria's 2nd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Renteria hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Hal Garrett visibly frustrated.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Marlins manager Cody Stoots.
With their winning streak at 4, the Marlins have raced to a strong start this season.
