Royals Come Up Short at New York, 3-2
|
The New York Mets scored a tight, 3-2 win versus the Kansas City Royals at Citi Field. New York pitcher Tommy Hanson held his own in the contest. Bobby Jenks closed the game out for New York, earning his 35th save. The Mets now have a record of 82-79 with the win over Kansas City.
The Mets got a big at-bat from first baseman Miguel Cabrera. For the game, Cabrera was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave New York a 3-2 lead.
"Tommy looked very determined to have a good game," said New York manager K.P. Paull. "He was totally focused and he produced."
