Braves Beat Cubs, 3-0, Behind Kershaw
|
Clayton Kershaw, who finished 3rd in the NL in ERA with 3.25 in 2009, was in top form in a tight contest between Atlanta and Chicago. The Braves left-hander helped his team beat the Cubs, 3-0. Jared Burton earned the save for Atlanta, his 26th. The loss makes Chicago 78-78.
It was a masterful performance from the popular Kershaw, who notched 11 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 3 hits. Kershaw, who led the NL in innings pitched with 241.0 in 2009, goes to 21-7 on the year with 262 strikeouts.
"Clayton was cooking with gas," said Atlanta manager Luis Quintana.
