Firestorm Suffer 3-2 Loss to Colorado
|
Colorado picked up a win at Coors Field, bumping off the Arizona Firestorm, 3-2. Pitcher Giomar Manselli was a major reason the Rockies emerged victorious. In 6 innings, Manselli surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Irving Jimenez closed the game out for Colorado, earning his 9th save.
Shaun Boyd aided the Colorado cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder was 1-3 with a triple.
Arizona manager Edgar Martinez said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Yes, it was a win for Colorado; but their 52-103 mark is nothing to crow about.
