Blue Jays Get Ripped, 19-2
|
The Baltimore Orioles pounded the Toronto Blue Jays, 19-2, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Baltimore right fielder Mark Kotsay had a game-changing performance. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Clayton Richard, who threw 100 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits. Marc Barcelo finished the game for Baltimore and earned his 3rd save.
The Orioles got a lift from shortstop David Wright, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season put the Orioles on top, 3-1.
Said losing manager Johnny Bench: "They put the hurt on us, that's for sure."
