Cubs Stick Braves with 7-3 Loss
|
The Atlanta Braves got a superb performance from pitcher Clayton Kershaw, but the Chicago Cubs still won the game, 7-3. Kershaw threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Heriberto Yepiz got the save, his 32nd in 36 chances. The Cubs raised their record to 81-72.
In the bottom of the sixth, Chicago shortstop Khalil Greene put his team on top. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 18th home run of the year. Atlanta pitcher Chad Billingsley served it up. Just like that, the Cubs were ahead, 4-3.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Chicago skipper Jeff Normore. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
