Rockies Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
Colorado starter Giomar Manselli put a stranglehold on the Arizona offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Rockies to a 1-0 win. In 7.1 innings, Manselli surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Brad Penny picked up the save for Colorado, his 3rd of the year.

Justin Morneau, who finished 5th in the NL in runs with 108 in 2002, had a direct impact on the outcome. Morneau contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Colorado up, 1-0.

"Giomar pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Colorado manager Jeff Zimmerman.

Despite the win, the Rockies have a lousy 49-101 record.
