In a dominant outing, Clayton Kershaw of the Atlanta Braves totally silenced the bats of the Chicago Cubs, finishing with a no-hitter.

In the Braves' 1-0 victory, Kershaw faced only 32 batters, surrendered no hits, had 8 strikeouts and 5 walks.

"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Atlanta manager Luis Quintana said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."

Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Jeff Normore had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.

"The Braves had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Kershaw pitched a heck of a ballgame."

This season Kershaw has crafted a 3-2 mark with a 1.37 ERA in 39.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .179 against him and he has 35 strikeouts.
