Comollo Slugs Astros to 9-4 Win
|
The 2012 season is getting uglier for Cincinnati.
A 3-RBI performance from designated hitter Leonardo Comollo, who leads the NL in extra base hits with 18, led the Houston Astros to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, 9-4. Fernando Rijo picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 3-0.
Yoenis Cespedes had a big 2-run double for the Astros in the top of the third inning. With Houston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Andrew Baldwin and swatted a double to left. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 3-0.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Comollo.
Houston is a blistering 17-3.
